Membership Fees
1st Orakei Sea Scouts Fees
Membership Fees
Joining Orakei Sea Scouts is a yearly commit. This means we invoice annually. If you start with us during the year, we will pro rata the fees from the term you started in. Currently we do not offer the ability to join the club on a term by term basis.
Our fees are $625 per year (subject to change) and are invoiced each October (the start of our financial year).
This is made up of two parts:
$279 of this goes directly to Scouts NZ to cover written programs for leaders to follow, and health & safety.
$346 goes to 1st Orakei Sea Scouts to cover running costs including insurance, the cost of the programs, badges, ship maintenance and boat & equipment maintenance. All of our leaders are volunteers and give freely of their time and expertise for the benefit of all youth members.
There is also a one-off $95 joining fee to cover your child’s shirt, scarf and woggle.
Hardship Fees
1st Orakei Sea Scouts have a policy of ensuring all youth can be members, regardless of their whanau’s financial situation. If the cost of Scouting, or Scouting events, is an issue for you (now or in the future) there are several options to reduce the cost which we are happy to discuss with you. Please contact the Group Leader.
Payment Terms
Ideally invoice are paid in full when issued. If this is an issue, please contact the Group Leader to discuss this further.
Parents
We really want to make this scouting group a great place for our kids, and whilst we know everyone is busy, we are a 100% volunteer-run, which means that every parent is expected to help with the group in some way - "many hands make light work!"
When you enroll your child at OSS YOU agree to:
· Assist as a parent help as per the Roster, as a minimum
· Help with fundraising (as fees do not cover all costs)
· Participate in working bees (usually twice a year)
In addition, we need volunteers to lighten the load for all of us to make sure we continue to have a great time.
We have the following volunteer positions available:
Committee members
Group Accountant
Quartermaster
Communications
Building manager
Camp organisers
Jamboree organiser
And many other small roles....
It would be great if we could have several people for each role so that no role is too big.
When you apply to join us, you will be asked to tell us your occupation and any other skills or expertise that you could bring to our group, eg building skills, boat maintenance skills, admin skills, event organisation, accounting & committee experience etc
Because we are 100% volunteer-run, if you are not able to commit to this level of involvement, then Orakei Sea Scouts is not for you.
If you have any questions about this, please contact the Group Leader Contact/Join
Parents, you are an integral part of the Groups success!
